For the fourth time now, Arvind Kejriwal has skipped the Enforcement Directorate’s summon. ED’s summon was regarding the Delhi liquor case, it’s going on over the past two months. Arvind Kejriwal was summoned by the ED in connection with the money laundering linked to the Delhi liquor policy case. The Delhi government brought in a new policy for liquor sellers in the national capital in November 2021.
Arvind Kejriwal has linked ED summons to LS polls!
Delhi chief minister and AAP minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that the Enforcement Directorate’s summons are actually against him, because of the Delhi liquor policy case. He has claimed the summon was “illegal and invalid”. He has claimed that the ED notices are a part of the BJP’s politics. The BJP party wants to arrest him. They want to do that to prevent him from campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections, which is their main motto. Reacting to this remark of Arvind, the Bharatiya Janata Party has said the AAP chief has “anarchy in his DNA”.
“ED sent me the fourth notice today and asked me to appear before them on either 18th or 19th January. These four notices are illegal and invalid. Whenever such notices are sent by ED, they are quashed by the court. These notices are nothing but just political vendetta. An investigation was being done in this case for 2 years but they did not recover anything. Why have I been called 2 months before the Lok Sabha elections? ED is being run by the BJP…Their only intention is to arrest me so that I cannot campaign for the elections.” Kejriwal said to the media.
It has been reported that the Delhi government’s excise policy of 2021-22 grants licenses to all liquor traders. It has allowed cartelization and favored certain dealers who had allegedly paid bribes for it a charge repeatedly refuted by the AAP. The policy was scrapped, and that’s why the Delhi Lieutenant Governor wanted a CBI probe. Because of this, the ED registered a case under the PMLA.
