On Monday, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court has announced that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody is going to be extended till April 23. Earlier, the Supreme Court had said that the court will hear Kejriwal’s plea against the ED, that challenged his own arrest on March 21, after 31st of April. The Delhi High Court had dismissed Kejriwal’s plea on April 9. The decision has been made by two-judge bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta came as it was hearing day of the plea today. The court has issued a notice for the ED saying “Issue notice, returnable on the week commencing 29th April, 2024.”

During the hearing, senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi who is appearing for Kejriwal, has said, “I am seeking a short date in this case, this Friday. There are selective leaks in the case.” To this, Justice Khanna answered, “Will give you a short date, but the date suggested by you is not possible.” The ED has brought up serious accusation against the AAP leader, according to the Ed, he has been involved in the “entire conspiracy of Delhi liquor scam, in drafting and implementation of the policy, for favouring and benefiting from the quid pro, receiving kickbacks and eventually using part of proceed of crime generated out of the scheduled offence in the campaign for Goa Assembly elections”.
As Arvind Kejriwal is still continuing to serve as the chief minister of Delhi, AAP MP Sandeep Pathak has claimed on Monday said that he will call 2 ministers for a meeting and discuss issues from next week. Meanwhile, in the middle of all these Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is claiming that the Tihar jail administration has been treating the AAP chief as a hard-core criminal. He claimed that he met The Delhi CM in jail on Monday, Mann alleged the AAP chief was not getting the services that are provided even to hardcore criminals.
