Security forces have achieved a major success against Kuki militants in the Jiribam district of Manipur. According to media reports, security forces killed 10 militants in an operation in the Jakuradhor Karong area of the Borobekra subdivision. However, a CRPF jawan was injured during this. Despite the success of this operation, the situation in the Imphal Valley of Manipur remains tense,
Major success against militants
The situation in the Imphal Valley of Manipur has become serious due to recent ethnic conflicts and attacks by militants. Militants are targeting farmers and attacking them, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear in the area. Farmers are also afraid of working in the fields due to the terror of militants. On Monday, militants opened fire from the hilly areas of Imphal, in which a farmer was injured.
Farmers are scared to go to the fields
According to officials, these attacks have scared farmers living in the outskirts away from their fields, affecting crop harvesting. Farmers are especially hesitant to work in their fields, as they are at risk of attacks by militants.
Retaliation by security forces
After this attack, the security forces took action and started retaliatory action against the militants. Police officials said that the attack took place around 9:20 am on Monday when militants from the hilly areas of Kangpokpi district opened fire on farmers located in the Yaingangpokpi Shantikhongban area. In this attack, a farmer got shrapnel in his hand. The injured farmer is undergoing treatment.
Firing between security forces and militants
Firing continued for some time between the security forces and the militants, but so far there has been no other loss of life or property. On Saturday, a woman farmer was killed in an attack by militants in Churachandpur district. On Sunday, similar attacks took place in some areas of Imphal East district, in which farmers were targeted.
The situation is serious due to ethnic conflict
The crisis of ethnic conflict in Manipur started in May 2023, when violence broke out between the Meitei and Kuki communities. More than 200 people have lost their lives in this conflict so far. Despite the continuous attacks and actions of the security forces, the situation is not coming under control.
