In such a situation, it is considered very important to have Voter ID to cast vote. But very few people are aware that you can easily cast your vote even without Voter ID. For this, complete guidelines of documents have been issued by the Election Commission.
It is necessary to have name in the voter list
To cast your vote, your name must be in the voter list. You can easily check your name in the official voter list by visiting the official website of the Election Commission. If your name is registered in the voter list, then apart from Voter ID, you can cast your vote through other documents decided by the Election Commission.
How to check name in voter list
- For this you will first have to go to the website of the Election Commission.
- You have to click on the ‘elector menu’ tab on the home page.
- Now click on ‘Search Your name in the electoral roll’.
- Now enter your Voter ID number. If you do not have a Voter ID number then you can search by entering your registered mobile number or personal details.
- After this you will get your name in the voter list.
Through which documents can one cast vote?
According to the notification issued by the Election Commission on April 2, 2024, if Voter ID is not available, you can easily cast your vote through the documents given below.
- Aadhar card
- MNREGA job card
- Bank and post office passbook (it should have your photo.)
- From Health Insurance Smart Card issued by the Ministry of Labour
- Driving license
- Pan card
- Smart card issued by RGI
- Passport and pension document (it must contain your photo.)
- ID card issued by Central/State/PSU companies
- I card issued by government to MP/MLA/MLC
- Disability Card issued by Government of India
