Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the countrymen on Sunday on the occasion of 76th Republic Day and wished that this national festival would further strengthen the ongoing efforts towards preserving the Constitution’s values and building a strong and prosperous India. India gained independence from the British on 15 August 1947, but on 26 January 1950, India was declared a sovereign democratic republic.
