He said, ”I wish that this national celebration will preserve the values of our Constitution and strengthen our efforts towards building a strong and prosperous India.” President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto is the chief guest at this year’s Republic Day celebrations. The Republic Day parade will showcase the military might and cultural diversity of the nation. India gained independence from the British on 15 August 1947, but on 26 January 1950, India was declared a sovereign democratic republic. Exactly 75 years ago, the Constitution of India came into force.
