Two infiltrators were killed in an ongoing operation in the Machil sector of Kupwara in northern Kashmir. The operation was launched based on some specific input in the Kumkadiarea area of the Machil Sector. It is reported that during the operation, two infiltrators were killed when the operation was still in progress. As per the Kupwara Police, many terrorists were killed by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army joint operation successfully thwarted the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
Earlier, two terrorist hideouts were also busted in Pulwama. On the morning of August 21, two militants were detected by alert troops to be making attempts to cross the line of control onto their side, they used the inclement weather, dense fog, thick foliage, and undulating ground in the Hamirpur area of Balakote sector।as weapons. As they (militants) approached their ambush sites, they were challenged by the Indian military and then both were engaged with effective fire. This forced (them) to flee from the ambush site with the help of the weather and ground conditions.
The police also said, “However effective fire resulted in one (militant) falling on the ground near the LC”. One AK-47, two magazines, and as many hand grenades were recovered.
They said, “On a specific tip J&K Police and Army’s 42 RR laid a cordon in the forest area of Nagbal Forest, Gulshanpora Tral. During searches two militants hideouts were busted,”
“During search blood trails leading towards LC were also detected. As per intelligence Inputs the two (militants) who attempted to infiltrate were injured due to fire from their troops, but still managed to return across the LC and later they succumbed to their injuries…Based on intelligence input provided by Kupwara Police, in a joint operation carried out by the Army and Police in the Kumkadi area of the Machal sector, 2 infiltrating terrorists have been killed so far. The operation is still on…” said Kupwara Police.
