The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is going to get a new governor. Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra has been appointed as the new governor of RBI. He will take charge on December 11. Malhotra will replace the current governor Shaktikanta Das. His appointment was made after the tenure of the current governor Shaktikanta Das was not extended. So let’s know who Sanjay Malhotra is. Sanjay Malhotra will be the 26th governor of RBI. His tenure as RBI governor will be of three years. Malhotra is a 1990 batch Rajasthan cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. His administrative career so far has been amazing. He has done amazing work in many other sectors including tax collection, GST, and electricity distribution finance. That is why success has been kissing his feet at every step. He has been appointed as RBI governor by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Sanjay Malhotra’s educational background has been very strong. He has studied at IIT Kanpur. Not only this, he also has a master’s degree in public policy from Princeton University, America. Sanjay Malhotra started his service in the Rajasthan cadre under the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He will now take over as the Governor of the Reserve Bank. He took over the responsibilities of the central bank after the resignation of Urjit Patel. Sanjay Malhotra’s tenure will be for the next 3 years.
