5 killed, 15 injured as bus plunges into gorge near West Bengal-Sikkim border!

 

A bus met with an accident near Atal Setu bridge in Pakyong district of Sikkim. Five passengers died in this accident, while 15 were injured. The incident occurred at 3 pm, when the bus going from Siliguri to Gangtok went off NH-10 and crashed on the banks of Teesta river. The dead and injured are being identified. A woman is also included among the dead. The injured were taken to a health center in Rangpo for treatment. Police said the death toll is likely to increase as many of the injured are in critical condition. At present the reasons for the incident are being investigated.

However, eyewitnesses said that the bus was going to Gangtok from Siliguri. The car suddenly lost control while taking a bend near Andheri Hills in Rangpur via Atal Bridge and overturned. And the bus fell on the bank of Teesta. It was then that the local police station was informed. At the same time the residents also put their hands in the the rescue operation
