Delhi NCR Pollution: Supreme Court is strict on pollution spread in Delhi-NCR, reprimanded Punjab-Haryana government !

A hearing was held in the Supreme Court today regarding the pollution spread in Delhi-NCR. During this, the court reprimanded the Punjab and Haryana governments. The court has also reprimanded CAQM on the issue of stubble burning. The court said that instead of taking direct action against the officials who failed to stop pollution, they were only issued notices and their answers were sought.

Judge angry at Manu Singhvi

The judge also appeared angry at lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who was arguing on behalf of the Punjab government in the Supreme Court. As soon as Singhvi tried to say something in the courtroom, the judge got angry and said, “Don’t force us to say anything… You are saying that 5 cases have been registered this year, only 5, is this possible?”

Governments breaking the law

The Supreme Court has reprimanded the Punjab and Haryana governments regarding air pollution. The court said that by not taking action against those who burn stubble, both the state governments are violating the fundamental rights of the citizens to live. The Supreme Court said that if the governments were serious in implementing the law, at least one case would definitely have been registered. The Supreme Court told the Chief Secretary of Punjab that FIRs were registered in 1080 cases of stubble burning, but fines were collected from only 473 people. They are sparing more than 600 people.
