Another major train accident took place today in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. Here 10 coaches of Dibrugarh Express going from Chandigarh to Assam via Gorakhpur derailed. There are reports of the death of two people in this train accident. Many people have been injured there. Due to the accident, 11 trains passing this route have been diverted and 2 trains canceled.
According to information received from railway sources, during the interrogation of senior railway officials, the loco pilot of the train revealed that he had heard a loud. After hearing the sound, the pilot applied emergency brakes. Since the train was at the right speed, some coaches derailed due to the sudden application of emergency brakes.
Pankaj Kumar Singh, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Eastern Railway, said that several coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Weekly Express train derailed on Thursday afternoon between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations on the Gonda-Gorakhpur railway section of the North Eastern Railway. He said that relief and rescue work is going on war footing. Due to the accident, the route of Katihar-Amritsar Express and Guwahati Vaishno Devi Katra Express on the concerned railway section was diverted to another station.
Taking cognizance of the accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the district administration officials to reach the spot and expedite the relief work.
