A birthday celebration here turned into a tragic accident when 7 young friends from Dehradun decided to go for a night drive. While having fun under the influence of alcohol, he took his car to a speed of 150 km/h in order to race with the BMW.
This high speed proved fatal for him, as his car collided with a big truck at an intersection. The accident was so severe that the car was blown to pieces and six friends died on the spot. Only one of these youths survived, who is now admitted in the hospital.
The accident occurred in Dehradun on Monday night when a speeding multi-utility vehicle (MUV) collided with a container truck. The deceased include Dehradun residents Guneet Singh, Kamakshi Singhal, Navya Goyal, Rishabh Jain and Atul Agarwal along with Kunal Kukreja from Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. Only one person, Siddhesh Aggarwal, survived the accident, who is admitted in the hospital. His condition is stable but they are unable to give any information about this accident at the moment.
According to the police, driving at high speed became the reason for this horrific accident. Inspector KC Bhatt of Cantt Police Station said that in the preliminary investigation it was found that the truck driver was not at fault. The accident occurred when the MUV hit the rear left side of the truck.This area is considered a blind spot for large vehicles.
CCTV footage shows that the MUV was passing through the checkpoints at normal speed before the accident. But suddenly his speed increased a lot near ONGC intersection. It was seen in the footage that he was passing through the checkpoints at a normal speed, but near the intersection his car suddenly started speeding, which proved dangerous for him.
