Bangladesh cricket team’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan announced his retirement from T20I on Thursday. The veteran took this decision before the second Test match to be played against India in Kanpur.
Shakib will play against India in the second test match to be played in Kanpur tomorrow i.e. from 27th September. After this, he is going to play Test cricket for Bangladesh in one more series and then he will retire from red ball cricket. He said that the test against South Africa in Mirpur will be his last.

Ahead of the second Test between India vs Bangladesh (India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test), Bangladeshi legend Shakib Al Hasan, while talking to news agency PTI, revealed that he has received a letter from the Bangladesh Cricket Board in front of his home crowd in Mirpur in the last Test. Has expressed his desire to play test matches. However, if his wish is not fulfilled, then the second Test match played against India will be his last Test. Shakib gave this information quoting PTI.
Shakib said that Bangladesh cricket has done a lot to him and he wants to play his last Test match on his home ground. Shakib said that being a Bangladeshi citizen, there is no problem in going there from India but my problem is whether I will be able to get out after reaching there or not. From what I am hearing from my family and friends about the conditions in Bangladesh, I am a little skeptical.
Shakib Al Hasan said that the T20 World Cup 2024 was his last tournament. He revealed this during a recent press conference. Shakib played a total of 129 T20I matches and scored 2551 runs, during which his strike rate was 121. However, he could not make much of an impact with the ball and took a total of 149 wickets in 126 innings.He missed his mark of 150 wickets by just one wicket.
