The nomination process for Delhi Assembly Elections has stopped from today. Now the nominations filed will be scrutinized and then the time for withdrawal of nominations will be given. So far more than 1400 nominations have been filed for 70 assembly seats. All this work will be completed by 20 January and then from 21 January, it will be decided who will be at the helm of Delhi politics.
While Aam Aadmi Party is fighting on all 70 assembly seats to win the battle ofthe Delhi Assembly, Congress is also trying its best on all 70 seats. Both of them are constituents of the All India Alliance but are in the political battlefield with each other in the assembly elections. On the other hand, the BJP is fulfilling its alliance dharma. BJP has given two seats in Delhi Assembly to its NDA allies. Burari’s seat has gone to JDU while Deoli’s seat has gone to LJP (Ram Vilas). In this way, the BJP is contesting 68 assembly seats.
All parties have declared their candidates. The special thing is that this time there is no surprising name in Delhi Assembly elections. Earlier there were speculations that Hindutva’s firebrand leader Nupur Sharma could be given a ticket in Delhi, while the name of BJP’s strong leader Meenakshi Lekhi was also in the discussion, but today when all the nominations were filed, this name is not among them.
Let us tell you that voting is to be held in Delhi in a single phase on February 5 and the results are to be declared on February 8. Earlier, in the 2020 assembly elections in Delhi, votes were cast on February 8 and the results were declared on February 11. In the 2015 assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party registered a bumper victory by winning 67 out of 70 seats and in the 2020 assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party won 62 out of 70. BJP won 3 seats in 2015 and only 8 seats in 2020.
