Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has given ED time till January 31 for questioning in the money laundering case related to the alleged land scam. JMM source gave this information. The source said that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s working president Hemant Soren sent a mail to the ED on Monday informing about his availability. This information has been shared by JMM source at a time when an ED team reached Hemant Soren’s Delhi residence on Monday in connection with the investigation of this case.
It is noteworthy that ED had questioned Soren on January 20 at his official residence in Ranchi in the alleged land fraud case. The agency had written a letter to Soren on January 27 last week, seeking a date of January 29 or 31 for questioning in connection with the case. In this new summons, Soren was asked to tell which day he would come for questioning between January 29 and January 31.JMM source has made it clear that Soren will be available for questioning on January 31.
Meanwhile, official sources said that a team of the Enforcement Directorate visited the residence of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in Delhi on Monday concerning the investigation into the case. Sources indicated that the visit could be linked to his fresh statement in the alleged land fraud case in which the ED had questioned him at his official residence in Ranchi on January 20 and issued a fresh summons to him for this week.

Officials of the investigating agency along with Delhi Police personnel reached 5/1 Shanti Niketan Bhawan in south Delhi around 9 am on Monday, while a group of reporters stood outside. According to the agency, its investigation is related to a large racket of illegal changes in land ownership by the mafia in Jharkhand. The ED has so far arrested 14 people in this case, including 2011 batch IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan.
