The report of the Ethics Committee in the alleged “cash-for-query” case was tabled in Lok Sabha on Friday. Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has said that the people will now see the battle of Mahabharata. Mahua Moitra quoted a famous poet and former Rajya Sabha Member, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.
While speaking to the media Mahua said, “Mother Durga has arrived, we will see. These people who have started ‘vastraharan’ (snatching clothes), will now see the battle of Mahabharata.” she also quoted, “Destruction befalls a person, conscience dies first (Jab Naash Manuj par chaat hai, pehle Vivek mar jaata hai).”
Moitra, the accused of taking money and asking questions in Parliament, will be presented in the Lok Sabha today. After the presentation of the report, a government may terminate the membership of Mahua Moitra. Before this, the report was listed in the agenda of the House which was to be presented in the Lok Sabha on December 4. Some opposition members were stressing that the committee’s recommendations should be discussed in detail in the House before the final decision to expel Mahua Moitra is taken.
Ethics Committee member Girdhari Yadav said, “There was no discussion in the Ethics Committee. It was passed in 2 minutes. They want to pass this in the Lok Sabha without debate, this is the murder of democracy.”
Well, The Ethics Committee had accepted the report recommending the expelling of Mohua Moitra from the Lok Sabha on charges of ‘taking money and asking questions in the House’.
