Maldives Government Suspends 3 Ministers over Derogatory Remarks Made on PM Modi !!

Ministers Maryam Shuja, Malsha, and Hasan Jishan, who made objectionable statements against PM Modi, have been removed from their posts. Shiuna was the Minister of Art, Youth, Information, and Youth Empowerment in the Government of Maldives. He had given objectionable statements after PM Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep.

Apart from this, two other ministers of the Maldives government also used abusive language. Now he too has had to lose his post. Maldives is seeing PM Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep as a threat to its tourism sector. When PM Modi visited Lakshadweep on January 2, he praised this beautiful place.

The Maldives government distanced itself from Minister Shiuna’s statement, calling it personal. The Maldivian government said, ‘We are aware of derogatory comments on social media platforms against foreign leaders and high officials. These opinions are personal and do not represent the views of the Government of Maldives. Moreover, the concerned authorities of the government will not hesitate to take action against those making such derogatory remarks.

Former Maldives President Mohammed Nasheed and Maldives Reform Movement President Faris had also demanded the government take action on the objectionable statements. After this, the pressure on the Maldives government to take action increased.
