The Supreme Court has granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam. Justice Kant said in his decision that Kejriwal is granted bail in the CBI case on a bail bond of Rs 10 lakh. Also they are prohibited from going to office and not making any public comment on the matter.He is also directed to go to the office and not make any public comment on the matter.
Justice Bhuyan of the Supreme Court, while continuing the order, said that he failed to understand why the CBI was in such a hurry to arrest Kejriwal, whereas they did not arrest him for 22 months and arrested him only when he was on the verge of getting bail in the ED case. He said arrest powers should be used sparingly, unnecessary arrest of a person even for one day is one day too many. He said that the late arrest of Kejriwal by CBI is unfair.
