DC vs GT Match Preview
Rishabh Pant’s return to home ground did not go as expected and Delhi, after registering two consecutive wins, suffered a huge 67-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad at home on Saturday. With this defeat, Delhi team has slipped to eighth position with six points from three wins and five losses in eight matches. The team is well aware that it will have to get back to winning ways if it wants to keep alive its hopes of qualifying for the play-offs.
Kuldeep Yadav has been Delhi’s most successful bowler in the current season, taking 10 wickets in five matches at an economy rate of 7.60, but he also proved to be very expensive against Sunrisers. He bowled the maximum number of eight empty balls among the Delhi bowlers but also hit the maximum number of sixes, seven. Left arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed’s strategy of bowling short pitches in the short boundaries of Kotla proved wrong. Enrique Norquia, the spearhead of the fast bowling attack, has been out of form in the current season and the team will be hoping for the return of experienced Ishant Sharma after he was ruled out of the last match due to a back strain.
There has also been a lack of consistency in the performance of Titans under the leadership of new captain Shubman Gill, but thanks to a three-wicket win in the last match against Punjab Kings, this former champion team is sixth with eight points from eight matches with four wins and the same number of losses. The Titans will also be eyeing to strengthen their claim for the play-offs by maintaining their winning streak. Apart from Gill, the team will expect better performance from Sai Sudarshan, David Miller and Azmatullah Omarzai in batting while Rahul Tewatia will have to play the role of finisher. In the bowling department, the onus will be on experienced Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmed and Rashid Khan.
