India suffered a big setback in the middle of the ongoing first Test against New Zealand as Rishabh Pant suffered a fatal injury on Day 2 of the play in Chennai. Rishabh Pant hoy injured in the knee during 38th over New Zealand’s first innings. He was taken out from the field limping leaving already bruised Team India.
How did Pant get injured?
The injury happened in the 37th over of New Zealand’s innings, when Pant missed a stumping chance against Devon Conway off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja when he got hit on the knee and as a result failed to collect the ball. He went off the field immediately and was replaced by Dhruv Jurel.
The tension built around Pant’s injury is compounded by the fact that the star wicketkeeper recently returned to competitive cricket after a 14-month rehabilitation process. He came back after recovering from the injuries in a severe car accident in 2022. Pant had been working hard to recover from a left knee injury, which required surgery. His return was eagerly awaited, making this new setback even more disheartening for the Indian camp.
