The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the 15-member squad of Team India for the T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma has been appointed the captain of the team, while Hardik Pandya has been appointed the vice-captain. For this mega event starting from June 2, the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar has given a chance to many players who are making a splash in IPL 2024, including Rajasthan Royals captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson, Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Shivam Dube and Rajasthan Royals’ spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Apart from this, big names like Rinku Singh and Shubman Gill have not got a place in the team.
These players got a chance
Apart from captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been entrusted with the responsibility of the top order of Team India. Apart from him, the selectors have once again expressed confidence in Suryakumar Yadav. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson have been included in the squad as wicketkeeper-batsmen. Dinesh Karthik, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul have not been able to make a place in the team. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson are consistently showing good performance for Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals respectively in IPL 2024 and perhaps they have got the reward for this.
Dubey and Chahal will also make a splash
Shivam Dubey, who has been making a splash in the IPL for the last 2 seasons for Chennai Super Kings, has also been selected in Team India for the T20 World Cup 2024. Also, despite being out of the central contract, the selectors have included dashing spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the squad. Apart from him, Kuldeep Yadav is the second full-time spinner of the team.
Talking about all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel are also part of Team India. At the same time, the trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammad Siraj have also got tickets for the T20 World Cup for fast bowling.
