Ishan Kishan is unlikely to play in the first Duleep Trophy; Sanju Samson might replace him!

 

It seems difficult for Ishan Kishan to play in the first match of Duleep Trophy. He has probably informed the selectors and management about a hamstring injury. He was recently playing for Jharkhand during the Buchi Babu tournament. It appears that this injury probably occurred to him during the same tournament. In the Duleep Trophy, Kishan has been included in India D, which is captained by Shreyas Iyer. For now, India D has not announced any replacement. Although there has been rumors about Sanju Samson taking the place of Ishan in the field.

India D’s first match is with India C, which will be captained by Rituraj Gaikwad. Kishan did not join the team until a day before the match. Depending on the severity of Kishan’s injury, a decision on his replacement can be taken. No replacement has been officially announced as of Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, there is also news that India A will have to play without fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who is recovering from a quadriceps injury. After four months of rehab, Prasidh has started bowling at full speed. But the National Cricket Academy coaches want to exercise caution as Prasidh has been troubled by these injuries for the last two seasons. Prasidh last played a match for India during the South Africa tour in December-January.

The absence of Kishan and Prasidh adds to the growing list of top Indian players who have had to miss the tournament due to various reasons. Earlier this week, Suryakumar Yadav was also out of this tournament. He suffered a hand injury during the Buchi Babu tournament in Coimbatore. Earlier, the fast bowling pair of Mohammad Siraj and Umran Malik had to be ruled out of this tournament due to dengue fever.
