This match played at Eden Gardens was reduced to 16-16 overs due to rain. Batting first, Kolkata scored 157 runs in Venkatesh Iyer scored the highest score of 42 runs. In response, Mumbai could reach only 139 runs in its 16 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in a rain-interrupted match. This is KKR’s ninth win and it is on top of the table with 18 points. With this, Kolkata has become the first team to reach the playoffs of the IPL 2024 season. Earlier, due to rain, the match started with a delay of two hours and 15 minutes. Rain disrupted the match due to which it was decided to make the match 16-16.
In this match, Mumbai won the toss and decided to bowl first and the bowlers did not waste any time in proving the captain’s decision right. KKR could not recover from the initial shock and the team scored 157 runs for seven wickets in 16 overs. For KKR, Venkatesh Iyer scored 42 runs in 21 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. For Mumbai, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and experienced spinner Amit Mishra took two wickets each.
