On one hand, the race for the playoffs in IPL 2024 is becoming very exciting, while on the other hand, a bad news has come out for Delhi Capitals. Strict action has been taken against Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant and he has been suspended for one IPL match. Along with this, a heavy fine has also been imposed on the players of Delhi team playing in the match against Rajasthan Royals. IPL has given detailed information about this by issuing a media advisory.
What is the case?
IPL issued a media advisory and wrote, ‘Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has been fined and has also been suspended for one match for violating the IPL code of conduct. Because his team maintained a slow over rate during Match 56 of Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Rajasthan. This match was played at Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 07, 2024.
Pant has been suspended from one match
Suspended from one match means that he will not be a part of the team in the next match of Delhi Capitals. This match is to be held against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 12th May. The IPL media advisory further read,
‘As this was his team’s third offense of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct relating to slow over rate, Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 30 lakh and suspended for one match. The remaining members of the playing eleven, including the impact players, were individually fined Rs 12 lakh or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is less.’
