SunRisers Hyderabad is in a dire situation right before the 12th match against Gujarat Titans. The team has announced that its star spinner Wanindu is leaving the team due to a heel injury. The Sri Lankan spinner, whom the Hyderabad franchise had included in its team by bidding Rs 1.50 crore, has been ruled out of the initial matches of IPL 2024. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga will be seen playing in the World Cup instead of IPL if he recovers in time.
Sri Lanka CEO Ashley De Silva said to The Sunday Times: “He is not taking part in the IPL as he needs to do some rehabilitation after meeting the podiatrist. There’s a swelling in the heel and he has been playing with injections. So he has decided to get this issue sorted out before the World Cup and informed us of his decision to skip the IPL this year”
Wanindu will fly to Dubai where he will check the injury and fully recover before flying back to participate in the T20 World Cup 2024.
