Protests are continuing against the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. People from every social background are protesting against this heinous crime and for justice in their own ways. Supporting these protests, singer Shreya Ghoshal canceled her concert.
Shreya announced the decision on her social media handle
Shreya Ghoshal said that she was deeply affected by the recent gruesome rape and murder of a doctor. In her post she has written, “I am deeply affected by the gruesome and heinous incident that recently took place in Kolkata. Being a woman myself, the very thought of the sheer brutality that she must have gone through is unthinkable and sends shivers down my spine…”
She said that her Kolkata concert will now be rescheduled for October, which was earlier scheduled for September 14. Ghoshal further said in his statement, being a woman, the cruelty that she (the female doctor) would have gone through cannot even be imagined and she is also waiting for justice.
Protests are going on in every level
There were massive demonstrations after the brutal murder of the female doctor. The doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata on August 9 this month.
A few days ago, Bollywood singer Arjit Singh released a song in protest against this incident. The meaning of the lyrics are something like this – “An unbearable mountain of injustice is being built. They are busy with thousands of tasks and are silent. They are unable to understand anything.”
