Tata Group’s airline company Vistara took its last flight on 11 November 2024 and ended its journey with the merger with Air India. This flight was from Ahmedabad to Delhi. On this historic occasion, the airport employees united and bid farewell to Vistara in a unique style.
During Vistara’s last flight, airport staff stood on the runway and waved an emotional farewell to the airline. During this, the crew member of the aircraft also made a special announcement, in which the famous song from the famous Bollywood film “Kal Ho Na Ho” was played, which made this special moment even more memorable.
Vistara also shared an emotional message on Twitter (now X) on the occasion of her departure, which read, “Thank you for being a part of this unforgettable journey and for loving us. We will always cherish these memories. Now follow Air India for every new information.”
The merger of Air India and Vistara was announced on November 29, 2022 and its completion was scheduled for November 12, 2024. After the merger, Singapore Airlines will invest an additional Rs 3195 crore in Air India, taking its stake to 25.1%.
Vistara Airlines was established in 2015 by Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, in which Singapore Airlines had 49% stake and Tata Group had 51% stake. Now, after the merger, Vistara aircraft will fly under the new flight code ‘AI’. For example, Vistara flight UK 955 will now appear as AI 2955.
After the merger, special help desk kiosks will be set up at the airports to maintain smooth operations, so that passengers do not face any kind of inconvenience. This step has been taken to give priority to the convenience of passengers during the transition period.
