
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced his resignation as leader of the Liberal Party. Addressing the public, Trudeau said he could remain in office until a successor is elected. After holding power for nearly 10 years, Trudeau has announced his resignation. Announcing his resignation, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said, “I intend to resign from the post of party leader and the post of Prime Minister after the party selects the next leader… Last night I asked the President of the Liberal Party to start this process.”
House adjourned till March 24
During the public address, PM Trudeau said, “I am a warrior. Every bone in my body has always told me to fight because I care so much about Canadians. And the truth is that despite the best efforts to work on it, Parliament has remained paralyzed for months. So this morning I advised the Governor-General that we need a new session of Parliament. She has accepted this request and the House will now be adjourned until March 24.”
He further said that during the holidays, I also had a chance to reflect and have long conversations with my family about our future. I intend to resign from the party leader and Prime Minister position once the party selects its next leader through a robust nationwide competitive process.
