Three countries will jointly organize the ODI World Cup 2027. These include South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. World Cup 2027 will be played in October-November. Eight top cricket grounds in South Africa have been confirmed to host the ODI World Cup 2027. These include Wanderers of Johannesburg, Kingsmead of Durban and Newlands of Cape Town.
These grounds got hosting chances
The main venues for the tournament in South Africa will be Wanderers, Pretoria’s Centurion Park, Kingsmead, St George’s Park in Gkeberha, Paarl’s Boland Park and Newlands, while Bloemfontein’s Mangaung Oval and East London’s Buffalo Park will also host some matches. Other matches will be held in tournament co-hosts Zimbabwe and Namibia.
The presence of rooms and airport was also observed
According to South Africa’s ‘News 24’ website, Cricket South Africa CEO Pholetsi Moseki said that the venues have been decided keeping in mind the availability of hotel rooms and the airport. CEO Foletsi Moseki further said that it was a difficult decision for them to leave the three grounds in Benoni, JB Marks Oval and Diamond Oval.He said that, ” we have 11 ICC recognized stadiums so it was difficult to leave three. But a lot of things were taken into consideration. Apart from the venue of the event, the presence of a training center around it was also an important issue.”
