Iran Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei raised the suffering of Muslims in India Gaza Myanmar

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that Muslims are being oppressed in India. He said this on Monday on the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad and stressed the need for unity among Muslims worldwide. Khamenei posted on X and said, ‘If we are unaware of the suffering of any Muslim in Myanmar, Gaza, India or anywhere else, then we should not consider ourselves Muslims.’ He did not give any details about why he mentioned the Muslim minorities of India in this. There has been no immediate response from the Indian authorities.

Ali Khamenei said, ‘The enemies of Islam have always tried to distort our common identity as an Islamic Ummah (community or nation).’ In a separate post on X, he again raised the issue of the oppressed people of Gaza and Palestine. However, India was not mentioned in it. He said that the goal of maintaining the honor of the Islamic Ummah can be achieved only through unity. He said, ‘Today it is our duty to support the oppressed people of Gaza and Palestine. Whoever turns away from this, Allah will question him.’

How are the relations between India and Iran

By the way, relations between India and Iran have been strong. There has been no major hindrance in bilateral ties. India is an important part of the Chabahar Agreement. In May 2015, New Delhi signed an MoU to develop Chabahar port. In May 2016, India, Iran, and Afghanistan signed a trilateral agreement for international transport, also known as the Chabahar Agreement. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar went to attend the official ceremony in May to express condolences after the death of former Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and former Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari attended the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran in July this year.

Khamenei has made such comments earlier also.

This is not the first time that Iran’s Supreme Leader has commented about the Muslims of India. In the year 2019, when Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir, he expressed concern over the situation of Muslims in Kashmir. Khamenei said that this step taken by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kashmir has created fear among Muslims.

He wrote on X, ‘We were worried to know about the situation of Muslims in Kashmir. We have good relations with India, but we hope that the Indian government will adopt a fair policy towards the elite people of Kashmir. Also, it will stop the oppression of Muslims in this region. ‘ He blamed Britain for the dispute between India and Pakistan. He said that the British deliberately did many such things in that area to maintain conflict in Kashmir, which even today puts both countries in trouble.
