After Covid-19, Monkey Pox has been declared a health emergency by WHO. According to WHO, cases of monkey pox have been reported in more than a dozen countries. The form of this virus seems to be spreading rapidly. The havoc of monkeypox is now being seen in Pakistan also. Where officials of the Federal Health Ministry of Pakistan said that a person who returned from Saudi Arabia on August 3 is infected with monkeypox, who is a resident of Dir city.
What are the symptoms of Mpox?
Many of the symptoms of Mpox are flu-like, usually appearing after 10-14 days. Fever, Headache,muscle pain,Tiredness,swollen lymph nodes,skin rash or pimples.
How to protect?
Following steps can be taken to prevent Mpox.
1. Maintain hygiene: Wash hands regularly with soap and water, especially before meals and after defecation.
2. Maintain distance from the infected person: Maintain a distance of at least 1 meter from the person infected with Mpox.
3. Maintain distance from wild animals in Central and West Africa, as they can be natural carriers of the Mpox virus.
4.Mpox virus can spread through sexual contact, so practice safe sex.
5. Vaccines are available for Mpox, so consult your health officer and get vaccinated.
6. Follow the instructions of the health authorities: During the outbreak of Mpox, follow the instructions of the health authorities and take care of the information given by them.
