Two trains collided in Bangladesh, 15 people died; many injured

Two trains collided with each other in Bangladesh on Monday, killing 15 people. At the same time, many others were injured.

According to the information received, the accident occurred around 4.15 PM when a passenger train collided with a goods train at Bhairab, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) from the capital Dhaka.

The train was going from Kishoregarh to Dhaka. Local police officer Sirajul Islam said the death toll could rise as rescue operations continued.

According to The Daily Star website, the death toll has reached 15. However, news agency PTI has confirmed the death of 13 people. Many people are still trapped inside the damaged coaches. ‘The Daily Star’ quoted a railway official as saying that the goods train that collided with the passenger train at Bhairab had ignored the signal.
