PM Modi’s gift on women’s day: Domestic LPG Cylinder Gets Cheaper By Rs 100!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced on women’s day, that a reduction of Rs 100 in cooking gas cylinder prices has been given as a gift on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The announcement was made by PM Modi on X, which was formerly known as Twitter. Why gas price reduced on women’s Day? Does it proves that woman belongs in the kitchen? Today, on Women’s Day, our Government has decided to reduce LPG cylinder prices by Rs. 100. This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti,” the post, which was done by PM Narendra Modi, read. He also said, “by making cooking gas more affordable, we also aim to support the well-being of families and ensure a healthier environment. This is in line with our commitment to empowering women and ensuring ‘Ease of Living’ for them.”

After this unexpected price cut announcement by the Prime Minister, the public sector oil marketing companies, like Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation-are also set to reduce the price of LPG cylinder from midnight. With this price reduction, the standard 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder would be costing Rs 803 in Delhi, Rs 802.50 in Mumbai, Rs 829 in Kolkata, and RS 818.50 in Chennai. The effective LPG cylinder price for PMUY consumers , which includes the subsidy benefit, would be Rs 503 in Delhi, Rs 502.50 in Mumbai, Rs 529 in Kolkata, and Rs 518.50 in Chennai.

Last year, the Union Cabinet had reduced the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cooking gas cylinder by Rs 200. This was a gift for the women ahead of Raksha Bandhan. The reduction in price was also applicable to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
