Bankruptcy through AADHAAR DETAILS!

“If you want to lock your Aadhaar card, then immediately click on this link” – an old man from Salt Lake, kolksyw, West Bengal, clicked this message on his mobile phone on Monday. Within ten minutes, he saw that 32 thousand rupees had been withdrawn from his account. Generally, everyone is advised not to share OTP and bank details to avoid hackers. But now cybercriminals have started using Silicon Thumb to siphon money from bank accounts, not OTP. Recently, YouTuber Pushpendra Singh revealed through a Twitter thread that hackers had emptied his mother’s bank account through fingerprints.  Not only this, but many people have also received calls asking if there is any problem in opening their locked Aadhaar, even then they will be helped. This kind of fraud is increasing day by day in the state. For the past few weeks, cases of fraud courtesy of Aadhaar have been coming to the fore every day. Fraudsters stole money from a person in Mahestala by stealing Aadhaar card information on Thursday too. Naturally, panic has spread among many.

Lock your AADHAAR DETAILS

Kolkata police have recommended that people keep their Aadhaar biometrics locked so that they can be used as the owner wants. Biometric Locking/Unlocking is a service that allows an Aadhaar holder to lock and temporarily unlock their biometrics. When the biometrics are locked no one can use your biometrics for any fraudulent transactions.  Thus, locking your Aadhaar biometrics prevents misuse and keeps the details private and safe.

DC(port) Zafar Ajmal Kidwai has said “While probing recent cases, our cyber cell of port division has come across innocent people losing their hard-earned money from their bank accounts through Aadhaar Enabled Payment Systems (AEPS) without their knowledge, from a distant place, without sharing any OTP or PIN, or downloading screen sharing apps, with neither an Aadhaar card nor its holder being present at the APES center. The explanation is that somehow, their fingerprint impressions may have been compromised by some source, and they are unaware of it. The learning is that every one of us must keep the biometrics option locked for Aadhaar authentication through the Aadhaar website or the mAadhaar app,”
