Dubai Faces Severe Floods – Unprecedented Events Unfold

Middle East city of Dubai has been suffering from Intense storms and flash floods since this Friday morning. Storms began at around 4 am local time across the country. Dubai Police and other authorities issued public safety warnings shortly after that.

UAE is set for more rain this weekend !

Large parts of the Emirates were lashed by heavy rain and thunder on Friday morning. That caused road closures and flight cancellations. The National Centre of Meteorology forecasts further rainfall in Fujairah and Al Ain on Saturday. But expects Abu Dhabi and Dubai to avoid the worst of the unstable weather. The weather agency said cloudy skies will persist in both the capital and Dubai throughout the day, which gives way to sunny conditions on Sunday.

Dubai is flooded !!

Heavy rains overnight caused flooding of several highways and streets in the UAE. Roads in Abu Dhabi Gate City and Mohammed Bin Zayed City were flooded causing traffic delays while streets in Umm Suqeim and Al Barsha were inundated.

Dubai Police issued a public safety warning early Friday as heavy rain, thunder, and lightning were recorded across parts of the United Arab Emirates. In a public alert shortly before 6.30 am, Dubai Police said the emirate was experiencing “adverse weather conditions.” Dubai police warned, “Stay clear of beaches and areas prone to flash floods. Drive with care and heed the advice of authorities. Stay safe.”

On Thursday evening, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) posted a warning calling on private sector companies to allow employees to work flexibly given the current weather conditions.

In a statement posted on X, MoHRE said: “Necessary measures need to be taken by companies to ensure outdoor work, which is necessary to resume, complies with the occupational health and safety requirements.”
